Newly characterized molecule offers possibilities for novel Alzheimer’s treatments

Tau consortium funded investigators let by Anna M. Krichevsky have used miRNA technology to demonstrate a neuroprotective effect through supplementation. This new angle for use of miRNAs show that they can bind to and destroy protein coding RNA, such as that which codes for Tau. Results of this study show potential for novel treatments for tauopathies.
